Porsche 356 C Cabriolet - 1964 The car was purchased from Cosa Mesa (California, USA) and shipped to the UK for restoration work. Listed below are 2 links - the before and after pictures for the restoration. These show the car at its worst during the restoration, and the current pictures of the car as it looks now. 10th May 2007 10th May 07 - Today my car was towed to the container port - ready to be shipped to the UK
18th Jun 2007 I finally get to see the car for the first time. Here are pictures from when I picked it up from the bonded warehouse in Felixstowe port.
4th Jul 2007 I have started taking the car apart in order to clean it and repair it. The engine has also been dismantled and the cylinders had to be sawn off !
9th Sept 2007 Slowly doing more bits on the car - the engine is 90% ready to go into the car, just waiting on a few more parts and trying to do the brakes and electrics !
29th Sept 2007 The engine is in ! Electrics are done ! The bonnet is back on - welding has happened and the engine turns over !
16th Jan 2008 The engine is back out because its not running - but all the electrics are nearly done !- the bodywork is looking better - its had its first wash ! (due to dust in the garage) and the brake capliers have returned from the specialists. And all 4 suspension bars have been replaced !
20th Jan 2008 The paintwork on the car did not polish up very well, so the whole car is being stripped down & all parts put away into boxes for the car to get read for a re-spray. The interior of the car was very rusty under the old carpet, so that has been treated with a special rust paint.
29th Feb 2008 The car is now fully stripped down and is ready to go to the paint shop to be re-sprayed.
4th Apri 2008 The car finally back from the spray shop & work of bolting parts back on begins
12th April 2008 Carpets are in, and the rest of the car is coming together - looks more like a 356 now ! - just waiting for the bumpers from the spray shop
25th May 2008 Nearly Done ! - Just waiting for a few parts from America to finish off the engine and small tweeks & cosmetic fixes to do. -
22nd July 08 The car drives and the roof is on - just waiting for the MOT to be road legal now !
Had lots of fun in the car over the last 5 years, but its now time to sell
