Porsche 356 C Cabriolet - 1964
The car was purchased from Costa Mesa (California, USA) and shipped to the UK for restoration work.
All the work was undertaken by myself, Mike Atkinson (with the exception of the re-spray)
Beginnings: May 2007
18th June 2007
I finally get to see the car for the first time. Here are pictures from when I picked it up from the bonded warehouse in Felixstowe port.
4th July 2007
I have started taking the car apart in order to clean it and repair it. The engine has also been dismantled and the cylinders had to be sawn off!
9th September 2007
Slowly doing more bits on the car - the engine is 90% ready to go into the car, just waiting on a few more parts and trying to do the brakes and electrics!
29th September 2007
The engine is in! Electrics are done! The bonnet is back on - welding has happened and the engine turns over!
16th January 2008
The engine is back out because its not running - but all the electrics are nearly done! The bodywork is looking better - its had its first wash! And all 4 suspension bars have been replaced!
20th January 2008
The paintwork on the car did not polish up very well, so the whole car is being stripped down & all parts put away into boxes for the car to get ready for a re-spray. The interior of the car was very rusty under the old carpet, so that has been treated with a special rust paint.
29th February 2008
The car is now fully stripped down and is ready to go to the paint shop to be re-sprayed.
12th April 2008
Carpets are in, and the rest of the car is coming together - looks more like a 356 now! - just waiting for the bumpers from the spray shop
